See Gifted

See Gifted.

Go right now. Do not pass “Go.” Do not wait.

Watch it in the theater, get it on Netflix or download it somehow. But whatever you do, see it.

Gifted movie, 2017

A movie that stars a 7-year-old. A movie without lots of guns and explosions. A movie that asks you to think about things.

She deserves an Oscar. Maybe she will have new teeth when she gets it.

The guy who plays her uncle deserves one, too. So do the rest. They play the roles impeccably.

The theme is thinking. Pondering and applying oneself and recognizing weakness and strengths and pursuing depth of knowledge. And respecting philosophy and integrity and also recognizing systemic corruption, including the influences of money and lawyers and our system.

See Gifted.

When you do, determine if it is helpful to you. And if it is, does it provoke a conversation or two?

When you do, and if the answer is yes, read Mothers and Sons, by a great author (now deceased), Carole Klein.

See Gifted.

Ask yourself after you see it if you relate to any of the antagonists or protagonists or philosophers or students or academics that appear in this concentrated panorama of the human condition in Florida and Boston and in America. If the answer is yes, then pursue on your own. The masterfully crafted movie moves quickly through this mosaic, so you don’t have time to get bored.

See Gifted.

I haven’t done a movie review in years. Too many are not worthy. But this one? Oh, my!

See Gifted.
