Cumberland Advisors Week In Review (Mar 29, 2021 – Apr 01, 2021)

Cumberland Advisors

Thank you for joining Cumberland Advisors for this end-of-week update on market conditions, bonds & equities with Matt McAleer & John Mousseau, CFA.

Matt McAleer on Equities / ETFs
- What did we see in Q1?
- We have two charts/slides to share today
- Chart/Slide #1, highlights broad indexes. Matt reviews.
- One of our takeaways is that international markets are improving. Not to the same level as the USA, but still, we see improvement.
- Chart/Slide #2, features domestic performance details. I've shown this before and it contrasts different indexes/styles of investing vs. the S&P. Matt explains what he's seeing.
- Matt talks about the "barbell" strategy and what we look for when it comes to opportunities.
- He relates where we're positioned and how we're diversified.

John Mousseau on Fixed Income / Munis
- Fairly quiet week in bond market, John provides numbers.
- Some disappointment in employment numbers
- We still see signals for a future tax hike. John adds color.
- We've never seen stimulus on this level relative to unemployment and the expectation for inflation is growing.
- Bond markets are open tomorrow for 3 hours, we're waiting to hear non-farm payroll numbers.
- With vaccinations increasing, we expect to see spending and the velocity of money both increase adding further fuel for inflation expectations.
- Enjoy the sports that have come back and the holiday weekend.
- Thank you for joining us!
