Florida Covid Update for Memorial Day Weekend

David R. Kotok
Thu May 26, 2022

Several readers have asked about the Covid surge in Florida.  For Cumberland‘s office status, if you are planning a visit, please call for the most current status and office protocols. We are open with a blended schedule of in-person and some work-from-home. We practice Covid mitigation like temperature checks, masking, distancing and the building has upgraded air handler filtration.

Florida Covid Update for Memorial Day Weekend by David R. Kotok

We offer two links for an update on the regional conditions.

First is an article in a prominent Florida newspaper, the Sun Sentinel: “All of South Florida moves into high COVID risk category after ‘processing error‘ in state’s data,”
 https://www.sun-sentinel.com/coronavirus/fl-ne-covid-community-level-high-data-error-20220521-mg56qdeu7vemjabtn42tslo5pu-story.html.

Second is a link to a more complete discussion on Twitter offered by a professor of epidemiology at the University of South Florida, Jason L. Salemi. Here’s a link to the thread unroll:
https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1527618507042529282.html. He offers a national assessment and then focuses on Florida.

We offer this quick note as a service, and readers may forward to anyone they wish.  Please note that Florida has no statewide required mitigation policy and thus CDC recommendations may not be followed if you visit even when Covid conditions are “red” as they presently are.  Many private companies and theaters practice mitigation but others do not.  We suggest each visitor take personal responsibility and do their own personal research.

Please travel safely and carefully as the Memorial Day weekend period evolves.
